Walk
Walk With Your Neighbors! Take a Walk Around the World... Walk to
Build Community! These are the powerful phrases that characterize
and identify Crop Walk, a service ministry of the National Council
of the Churches of Christ in the USA, dedicated to fighting hunger
and helping to build community. Through locally organized teams
in cities across the country, Crop Walkers help raise money to provide
relief and development assistance in more than 80 countries including
the United States. St. Paul's has been an active participant in
the program for more than 15 years and counting. All donations are
appreciated and, of course, anyone is invited to participate in
the walks which organize at the church on Crop Walk Sunday. If you
would like to learn more about the program or how you can help,
contact Tom Hunter locally or visit the Crop Walk website at www.cropwalk.org

Creative
Arts Summer Theater Camp
Synopsis
In its fifth year, the annual summer theater camp offers youth from
downtown San Jose and surrounding neighborhoods an opportunity to
be productively engaged in pro-social activities. One of the camps
goals is to increase the participants self-esteem by strengthening
their communications skills. The youth are able to develop their
creative skills through instruction and production in theater arts.
This five-week long, full-time camp program also provides a safe
and caring place for young people to engage in meaningful activities
during five weeks of their summer vacation, and provides much-needed
respite for parents. The program culminates with a theater production.
Last year the young people produced "Hercules - The Musical",
combining the drama, dance, and music programs.
Open Program
We are open to all age-appropriate young people regardless of racial,
ethnic or cultural identity, or religious orientation. The program
is a community resource sponsored and operated by St Paul's United
Methodist Church and housed in our facility. Both the program participants
and congregation are multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-racial.
We are proud of our diversity. Please see our collages at Gallery
2 and Bulletin Board .
How to register
Camp registration, which includes a full, healthy lunch and snacks
each day, is $75.00 per child. Scholarships are available for those
who are unable to manage the camp fee. Campers meet Monday through
Friday from 10AM-4PM. Youth who have completed first grade through
2004 high school graduates are welcome. To enroll and learn about
camp dates, contact Genevieve Ruiz, Program Director, at (408) 294-5446.
